Saturday, September 14th - 7am - 12pm.Ms. Krieger-Fritsch has organized a TWS yard sale in order to raise money for new equipment in our playground. You can help by donating items, helping to organize items, and volunteering to work at the sale. Bring your truck... Make a sign... Come have fun...
Please help us raise money for the school by asking your friends, neighbors and family if they would like to brighten their lives with bulbs from Dutch Mill Bulbs. Its easy – just look through the beautiful Dutch Mill brochure, pick your favorites, fill out the order form, turn your completed form in at the office and await your bulbs.
The Taos Chamber of Commerce produces a Fall Arts & Crafts Fair in Kit Carson Park the last weekend of September (09/28/2013 to 09/29/2013). This year they would like to create a “Taos School Street ” for schools to participate in this event with no-cost booth space.
This is a great opportunity for Taos Waldorf School to both raise funds by having our students art for sale, as well as to reach out to the wider community. Gaia's 3rd grade class is thinking of producing sprouts for sale, Miss Beth's class may make crocks with pottery lids fired in our very own kiln. Silke's little Gnomes and Blossoms may contribute flower bookmarks and vases. Farmer Barry may even gather some of our garden produce for sale!
Parents, your help is needed, too. Would you be willing to be present at our booth throughout the weekend and share your love of our school with the greater community? Sign-up sheets will be posted around school in the next few weeks. Please help if you are able!
Scott Esty, our beloved Strings teacher, is also a coffee roaster and Barrista extraordinaire. His signature whole-bean coffee is roasted right here on campus, and it’s available for sale in the office. You can pay via PayPal and pick it up here, or just buy it in the office with cash, check or credit card. Yum!
Every year the 10th grade at Shining Mountain Waldorf School in Boulder, Colorado embarks on a service project. This year, they will join us once again as they work on Taos Pueblo and spend some time with our classes, as well. Their group will camp in our back field and use our school as home base for their Taos adventures. It is always a nice experience for our school community to have time with Waldorf high schoolers and see the full circle of this kind of education, so please feel free to say hello and to talk to them about their projects, their school, and themselves.
TWS has agreed to allow our family to sell our farm products in the school parking lot at pick up time from 2:45-3:15 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. I usually sell to restaurants directly and families by delivery or farm pick up. My delivery charge is $1 per purchase to cover gas costs. I will be offering TWS this $1 "delivery" fee in exchange for the use of their location.
No one likes to spend too much time talking about the ins and outs of tuition contribution payments, but since it is our contributions that allow the school to keep functioning, it’s a subject that deserves a bit of attention and clarity.
Please remember that if you are paying your contribution monthly, then the first payment was due on August 15th, the second payment was due September 1st, and all other payments are due on the first of each month through May of 2014. Even if you have only just had your ATA conversation, or if you haven’t received a bill, the school still needs your contribution to be paid on time in order to keep functioning smoothly.
The festivals at a Waldorf School are at the heart of our curriculum, and we invite you to become part of making this magic happen for our children and community. Harvest festival is nearly upon us, and the festival committee would like to invite all families to come and help us create this and future festivals! We will be meeting the third Tuesday of each month, beginning on Tuesday, September 17th in the Gnomes classroom. We will be planning the festivals and also making hand made toys for the May Faire during these meetings. Please consider joining us to do this wonderful work for our school from 3:15-4:45 on the 17th!
